Make the Most of Your Year
So, now that you are an official delegate, how do you go about the business of being a titleholder? Titleholder are required and encouraged to be active during their tenure with the Miss African Union Pageant. This section will provide you with guidelines and tips for making the most of your Miss African Union Pageant title.
Social activism has been a very positive trend in pageantry in recent years. Make your title stand for something, focusing on how you can use the crown to make a difference. Taking a stand serves to identify you with a positive purpose and distinguishes you from the unfortunate public image of titleholders as merely pretty ornaments. The choice of a platform issue should be of personal significant. For instance, if a family member suffers from cancer, you may want to align yourself with the Cancer Society/HIV AIDS and participate in their fundraisers, educational programs, and special events. Taking a stand does not in any way preclude you from having fun or participating in activities such as parades, festivals, and ribbon cuttings. However, using the crown to make a difference in your community will give you tremendous satisfaction!
